13 May 2026 — Today at the IATA Aviation Energy Forum in Paris, Skymetrix and Norwegian Air Shuttle announced that the airline has selected the Airtelligent platform to transform its fuel management operations.

Airtelligent is Skymetrix’s latest cost management platform, which has been built for the AI age, and Norwegian becomes the first airline globally to adopt the fuel management component of the platform.

Airtelligent will connect fuel procurement, operational flight data, and financial reconciliation processes across all Norwegian AOCs, creating a unified and data-driven approach to managing fuel costs across the group. Fuel is one of an airline’s most critical cost categories, representing 25–35% of airline operating costs (IATA).

By linking operational flight movements directly with supplier settlement and financial reconciliation processes, the platform strengthens transparency and data accuracy, reduces invoicing errors and enables the automation of time-consuming tasks. It enables more systematic control of fuel costs across the organization, saving time, reducing costs and increasing profitability.

“At Norwegian, disciplined cost management and operational transparency are fundamental to maintaining a competitive and resilient airline. Implementing an integrated Fuel Procure-to-Pay and Flight Data Ledger framework enables us to strengthen financial control, improve data consistency and support scalable operations across all AOCs.”

Jeanette Bø-Alnes,
Chief Performance Officer, Norwegian Air Shuttle

Strategic Context

Across the aviation industry, airlines are increasingly modernizing how they manage Direct Operating Costs (DOC). Fuel remains the single largest variable cost category, and traditional manual reconciliation processes often limit transparency, control and scalability.

Through the deployment of Airtelligent across all AOCs, Norwegian is establishing a structured digital foundation for fuel cost governance and data consistency across its operations.

The platform connects procurement workflows, operational flight data and financial settlement processes into a unified architecture designed to support scalable cost management across the group.

“Fuel is the single largest variable cost for most airlines. Establishing structured control across procurement, reconciliation and flight data is no longer optional — it is foundational. We are proud that Norwegian has chosen Airtelligent to build this architecture across all AOCs. As our global launch customer, Norwegian sets a new benchmark for integrated fuel governance and financial transparency.”

About Airtelligent

Launched in 2025, Airtelligent is Skymetrix’s latest cost management platform which includes industry-leading fuel management capabilities, including AI-powered features.

The platform connects operational data with financial control processes, providing one accurate view of fuel data, down to granular detail. This enables systematic invoice reconciliation, audit readiness and consolidated fuel cost transparency across airlines.

With its decision to adopt Airtelligent, Norwegian is establishing the digital foundation for a future operating model in which critical fuel and cost management processes can be managed with greater intelligence — including predictive cost analytics, AI-supported operational decision frameworks, and end-to-end AI-driven automation such as AI-powered Invoice-to-Pay.

“With Widerøe already operating on our platform, expanding to Norwegian across all AOCs reflects the group’s commitment to a unified and scalable fuel governance framework. This group-wide deployment establishes the foundation for a broader digital cost intelligence architecture, enabling airlines to manage critical operating cost categories with structured data, transparency and scalable control.”

About Norwegian Air Shuttle

The Norwegian group is a leading Nordic aviation company, headquartered at Fornebu outside Oslo, Norway. The company has over 8,900 employees and owns two of the prominent airlines in the Nordics: Norwegian Air Shuttle and Widerøe’s Flyveselskap. Widerøe was acquired by Norwegian in 2024, aiming to facilitate seamless air travel across the two airline’s networks.

Norwegian Air Shuttle, the largest Norwegian airline with around 5,200 employees, operates an extensive route network connecting Nordic countries to key European destinations. In 2025, Norwegian carried 23 million passengers and maintained a fleet of 95 Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Widerøe’s Flyveselskap, Norway’s oldest airline, is Scandinavia’s largest regional carrier. The airline has more than 3,700 employees. Mainly operating the short-runway airports in rural Norway, Widerøe operates several state contract routes (PSO routes) in addition to its own commercial network. In 2025, the airline had 4.1 million passengers and a fleet of 51 aircraft, including 48 Bombardier Dash 8s and three Embraer E190-E2s. Widerøe Ground Handling provides ground handling services at 41 Norwegian airports.

The Norwegian group has sustainability as a key priority and has committed to significantly reducing carbon emissions from its operations. Among numerous initiatives, the most noteworthy is the investment in production and use of fossil-free aviation fuel (SAF). Norwegian strives to become the sustainable choice for its passengers, actively contributing to the transformation of the aviation industry.
