Happy New Year! We hope you had a restful break. At this time of year, it’s natural for us all to reflect on the events of the previous twelve months, and look forward to the things we have planned in the year ahead. So here is a whistlestop tour of 2022 at Skymetrix, and a sneak preview of what’s coming in 2023.
2022: Some highlights
Q1
In the first quarter of the year, Skymetrix was born! Following the merger of FuelPlus and Airpas Aviation in June 2021, we launched our new brand to the industry in March 2022.
Q2
We appointed a new CEO, Michael Scheidler, to lead Skymetrix. He set out our vision for aviation fuel and cost management and how we would work.
We attended the first ever IATA Aviation Energy Forum in Germany in May. We had positive discussions with a lot of airlines, and picked up insights from a variety of interesting keynotes and workshops.
Q3
We appointed to another key role: Jenny Schiemann became our Head of Customer Success Management. In her first blog article, she outlined the Skymetrix customer success promise and how we would deliver on that.
Q4
We began our first ever Customer Roadshow! CEO Michael Scheidler and COO Mike Charalambous visited some Skymetrix customers in the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East, to discuss key topics such as customer success and the roadmap for our next-generation cost management platform. The meetings have so far been very positive, and the roadshow continues in 2023.
In November, we also appointed a new CTO, Allesandro Marriotti. Look out for a blog from Allesandro in the next few months.
2023: A sneak preview

We’ll conclude our face-to-face meetings with every customer, focusing on the Asia region in January.
The first Skymetrix User Group
We’re very excited to be holding our first Skymetrix User Group in April this year, in Barcelona. All our customers are invited to this event, which will include workshops, company and product updates, and a chance to network with other airlines and Skymetrix employees. It’s also an important opportunity for us to gain feedback from customers on our products and services.
Industry events
You will see us at more industry events this year, starting with the 2023 IATA Aviation Energy Forum in May. You will have the opportunity to book meetings with us at these events, or to catch a member of our team for an impromptu chat. Keep an eye on our events page throughout the year.
Product development
Development of our next-generation cost management platform is on track and due to be released this year. You can expect an announcement soon about go-live for our first next-gen customer!
We will also provide further updates this year on important new feature developments, such as sustainable aviation fuel, tax, contract management, and analytics.
We’re really excited about what’s to come and look forward to making it all happen, with the support of our customers and partners. Here’s to a busy and prosperous 2023!
